Mar 30, 2017 · I unhooked the vent hose tonight and also vacuumed the lint filter in the dryer - when I leave the dryer door closed, and then open it after sometime, it seems like the smell lingers. But if I run a cycle with the hose pointed up (recycling the air back into the laundry room) there's no nasty smell that I can detect at least. OKay so I take Fish Oil in the oil form (lemon scented) and the bottle opened and half poured all over my luggage. And being the smart person I am i washed those weight lemon smelling clothes with all my other clothes in a large laundry. The lemon scent got out but now all my clothes smell like fish and I cannot seem to get the smell out.
This recently happened to me. The cause? The power cord was scorched and when the dryer was running it emitted this "fishy" smell. Detach the power cord and see. Is it scorched? Smell it. Does it not smell "fishy?" If the answer is yes, go to either Home Depot or Lowes (or any hardware or Sears stores) and get a replacement. Should run you about $13.
